Peace is possible

Peace is possible in this life. While life at times feels chaotic, stressful and even painful, peace is still possible. True and lasting peace is possible when at the core of our being we find the peace we were created to enjoy. At the deepest level of our being we long for and need peace with God. Through Jesus this peace is possible.

Over time people have given very helpful tools to help us understand the Bible’s clear directions as to how we can find peace with God. The path to peace with God has been described as the pursuit of your most important relationship. Billy Graham outlined the steps to peace with God like this:

  1. God’s Plan: peace and life (For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. – John 3:16 NLT-SE)
  2. Our Problem: separation (For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard. – Romans 3:23 NLT-SE)
  3. God’s Remedy: the cross (He personally carried our sins in his body on the cross so that we can be dead to sin and live for what is right. By his wounds you are healed. – 1 Peter 2:24 NLT-SE)
  4. Our Response: receive Christ (But to all who believed him and accepted him, he gave the right to become children of God. – John 1:12 NLT-SE)

The Bible says in Romans that God loves us immensely and set a plan for us that we can know peace with God. He did this for us before we were even born knowing that we were created for peace with God, but could not attain this peace without God’s help.

But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners. And since we have been made right in Gods sight by the blood of Christ, he will certainly save us from Gods condemnation. For since our friendship with God was restored by the death of his Son while we were still his enemies, we will certainly be saved through the life of his Son. So now we can rejoice in our wonderful new relationship with God because our Lord Jesus Christ has made us friends of God. – Romans 5:8-11 NLT-SE

In order to begin a life of peace with God we must admit we need God to forgive us for our sins.  No one is without sin and all of us need the work of Jesus on our behalf to be forgiven.  We do this through a prayer of admission and confession that Jesus is indeed Lord having the power to forgive demonstrated by His resurrection from the dead.  When we ask for forgiveness God makes us His children and as we allow Him to lead our life He transforms us completely.

Finding peace with God begins with a simple prayer that is something like this:

Dear God,

I acknowledge that I have come up short of your standard of righteousness.  I have sinned and need your forgiveness, the only forgiveness sufficient to make me new.  I accept Jesus’ offer of to forgive my sins.  I yield my life and my way to you and your leadership. I will follow your way as you are Lord.

Thank you for giving me forgiveness.  Thank you for restoring the broken relationship.  Thank you for giving me peace with you.

In Jesus’ Name Amen

A Message Of Peace From Brian Bales, Lead Pastor

Whether you would describe your life and your circumstances as challenging or normal, each of us have needs.  But probably the greatest need we all have is the need for peace. When we go through life it forces us to look at where our faith is placed.  It forces us to know where true peace comes from, and too often we look for peace in all the wrong places. We work hard. We look hard. We try hard, yet we cannot find peace.

The truth in life is that sincerity is important, but it can often be misplaced. No amount of sincerity can bring peace if we expect it to come from somewhere it cannot come from. Why? Because true peace does not come from circumstances but a person, Jesus.  He is as Isaiah 9:6 says, “The Prince of Peace.”  So, if you have found yourself searching and it has resulted in you landing on this webpage, be encouraged.  You are on the right track. I invite you to look around this page and find Jesus who is our peace.
