Movie Night 2026

On a Friday night in early July, CFC hosted the first of its summer events series, a screening of “The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe.” Viewers were transported with the four Pevensie children to Narnia – a magical world full of fauns, lampposts, talking beavers, a very bad witch, and one very good lion.

The CFC main worship center was transformed into a movie theater, complete with free snacks at the concession stand. CFC staff invited viewers to participate in Narnia movie trivia, and also raffled off a few Chick-fil-A gift cards.

The movie, based off the beloved C.S. Lewis books, presented an allegorical story of redemption. Young Edmund was tempted by the White Witch, leading him to betray his family and Aslan. Ultimately, Aslan the great lion demonstrated Jesus’ sacrificial love by laying down His life for the traitorous Edmund – while sisters Susan and Lucy looked on in confusion and despair. Aslan’s sacrifice paid for Edmund’s trespasses and brought him back into fellowship with Himself and the rest of the Pevensie family. After Aslan’s miraculous resurrection, He emerged victorious in the great battle against the White Witch, and crowned the Pevensie children as Kings and Queens of Narnia.

At the end of the story, Mr. Tumnus and Lucy watched Aslan walk off into the distance. Lucy wondered when Aslan would be back. Mr. Tumnus observed, “You mustn’t press Him. After all, He’s not a tame lion.” Despite some confusing and scary times, Aslan had proven that God can be trusted even when He isn’t necessarily understood, allowing Lucy to respond, “No, but He is good.”
