Local Community Service

“For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.”

Jesus calls us to be in community, and as a church we are a body of believers who are in community with each other, united in purpose and love. But, He also calls us to be the light to the world and to love our neighbors as ourselves. Thus it is our job to reflect the image of Christ to those around us and we do that by bringing awareness of Christian Fellowship Church and our resources to people in our surrounding areas.

Ways we serve the Local Community

We have two focus schools: Sully Elementary School & Sterling Elementary School which are both Title I schools – which means that over 50% of the school population qualifies for free and reduced lunch programs.

We also partner with 8 other schools in our area – Broad Run High School; Stone Bridge High School; Meadowland Elementary; Farmwell Station Middle; Trailside Middle; Sterling Middle, Discovery Elementary and, most recently, Steuart Weller Elementary.

    • Summer – School supplies collection
    • Fall – “Backpack Buddies” food collection
    • Winter – Christmas gifts and support
    • School Year – Tutoring and Mentoring
    • All Year – School events volunteer

The mission of CFC’s Jail Ministry is to serve the needs of incarcerated men and women, and their families, primarily in the Loudoun County geographic area, by bringing them hope through the Gospel of Jesus Christ and addressing material and emotional support needs during and after incarceration in partnership with organizations in Northern Virginia.

One of Jesus’ mandates in Mathew 25 was to ‘visit those in prison’.  Every year, approximately three-quarters of a million people are released from US prisons. Most return to their communities with nothing but the clothes on their backs and a few dollars in their pockets. Without help, many will return to their old ways. Having a support network that starts before release and continues after release is vital.

Our jail ministry includes pre-release; post-release; and family support ministry.   Get involved by being a regular prayer warrior, volunteering for events, or become a Bible Study leader or aftercare mentor. Training, coaching, and encouragement is provided for all involved.

CFC is the coordinator of the Emmaus curriculum which we offer to every resident of the Loudoun ADC. We have seen, through the discipleship of the Word via this curriculum, many come to Christ for the very first time as well as these same individuals sharing the Gospel with their fellow inmates!

We engage directly in communities and apartment complexes for the sole purpose of building relationships and, thus, building community. This features about 4 events per year sponsored by CFC Local Outreach with the opportunity to volunteer year-round for the betterment of the community and to share God’s love.

Our CFC family has provided thousands of meals over the years for local pantries. Even with all the affluence, it is averaged that up to 16,000 people are ‘food insecure’ in Loudoun County.

We ‘sponsor’ two major food drives per year. The first one typically takes place during the lent season leading up to Easter while the second food drive takes place in the fall just after school starts.

These food drives benefit the work of Loudoun Hunger Relief Food Pantry, and the Backpack Coalition of Loudoun.

“For I was hungry, and you gave me something to eat…”

Loving our neighbors

Jesus was asked to pick one commandment that is more important than all the others; “Love God with all your heart, mind, soul, and strength, and love your neighbor as yourself. (Matthew 22:37-40). Paul says, “The entire law is summed up in a single command: “Love your neighbor as yourself.” Galatians 5:14. Could we change our world, our neighborhood, if every person who believes in Jesus would actually do this?
